How do we design a hair salon in a post pandemic world? We took advantage of the current situation to design an exclusive experience for customers in a hair salon.
A customer is greeted at the reception in a monotonously designed space with pockets of views into the rest of the salon. This reception doubles up as a buffer for the afternoon sun that comes in directly from the naturally ventilated courtyard of the mall.
As the customer moves into the main salon area, he/she enters an area filled with plants and mirrors, almost like getting their hair pampered in a park like setting. A centre island row of seats are intentionally tilted 30 degrees to create a safe distance of more than a metre from the next customer sitting beside, while a sense of exclusiveness. Seats at the 2 flanks are positioned to face each other with a double sided mirror creating a natural barrier between the customers.
The hair wash areas are separated into 3 individual cubicles. Each customer gets their own hair wash cubicle without having to inter-mingle with other guests, again creating this sense of exclusiveness as part of the experience.
