“Si monumentum requiris circumspice” (If you seek a monument, look around you) – Epitaph of Sir Christopher Wren
The legacy of our founders is best represented by the land upon which Singapore is built. Our proposal anchors itself firmly to Bay East Garden and the ground via an orderly network of sinuous paths that intensifies and focuses on the Memorial site. At the heart of this network, we lift up the ground for the founding narratives to be revealed through a journey in the Interpretive Gallery.
Our Interpretive Gallery is a journey alternating between indoor galleries and outdoor courtyard gardens. The five courtyard gardens are inspired by quotes from the founding fathers, and seek to evoke emotions that will inspire visitors.
The journey culminates at the elevated Viewing Gallery with a rewarding panoramic view of the city skyline, and continues all around Singapore as the visitor walks down to ground level.
