about
The unit came with a column in the middle of the space that we need to address on top of maximizing the sitting capacity.
Turning the site constraints into design opportunities, together with the graphic artists, we approach the design from the perspective of something more graphical, turning sketches into 3 dimensional elements such as signage, counter, light fittings.
Using simple LED T5 lights, we created graphical “sun-rays” as if the wall mural continued into the ceiling space. The counter design took reference from geographical stalactites and integrate into lights to give the sense of depth of the long coffee counter. An interplay of graphics versus 3 dimensional elements is the driving force behind the design of the cafe.
