about
We designed Pangdemonium Theatre Company's new office and rehearsal studio as a celebration of the behind-the-scenes, in a lively community space filled with colour, texture, and warmth. The highly textural oriented-strands-board (OSB) is repeated with variations to give character to individual spaces.

Embracing the behind-the-scenes, the props room and costumes room frame the rehearsal studio at the entrance foyer. The brightly lit props store and workshop, conveniently beside the main entrance and the rehearsal studio, is behind a barn door evocative of theatre prop mechanisms. The costume department gives visitors a sneak peak into its collection through a window with posters of past productions line the gallery to the main office.
The main office space is designed as a series of alcoves along the glass curtain wall, giving everyone access to daylight and views. The alcove curves are echoed as overhead shelves, tabletops and floor paint pattern.
At the heart of the communal space is a pantry with a generous island. The OSB takes up more forms and colours in the common areas, here as privacy pods. A monchromatic warm green envelops the pantry. Abutting the pantry are more privacy pods in OSB, each in its own custom hue. Making use of the high ceiling space, the OSB structure conceals napping pods above.
